The Benefits of an All-in-One Homeschool Curriculum
By James Leonard
October 7, 2020Homeschooling can seem pretty intimidating at first!
When my wife and I began homeschooling our own children (seems like only a few years ago!), we searched the homeschool curriculum fairs, went to the seminars and talked to other homeschoolers seeking the right option for our family.
After spending hours of research and getting advice from homeschool gurus, we decided to move forward with an all-in-one homeschool curriculum - the same one our children had been using in the Christian school we had taken them out of. It provided us with the guidance we needed as new homeschoolers and the confidence to feel we were doing things right. It worked well in the school and I think better at home!
The all-in-one homeschool approach gave our kids (and us) everything we needed to succeed in school— In one easy to use program.
Year after year, we were relieved that we didn’t have to stress over scrounging up new resources for our kids (since we saw many of our homeschooling friends live in that unfortunate cycle).
Fast forward many years. I’ve now assisted hundreds of students in the transition from other educational environments to homeschooling with Basic Christian Education’s PACE program (using the ACE Homeschool Curriculum). And— it’s an all-in-one homeschool curriculum!
The Homeschool Comparison Game
When you’re trying to do the “homeschool thing” for the first time, it can be tempting to compare yourself to others. In the world of homeschooling, comparison is normal! Maybe you’ve been homeschooling your children for a while and can recall those feelings when you first started.
You’ll also probably get a lot of conflicting opinions from dozens of people in your family - or within your church family - about what resources you should be using and how you should be teaching them… and it’s exhausting, right?
Over the years, I’ve talked with so many parents about how they’ve felt discouraged or inadequate about homeschooling their children. As a parent and educator, I hate seeing other parents in that place. But I love watching parents overcome those feelings of anxiety in their own homeschooling journeys.
The Benefits (and Freedom) Found in an All-in-One Curriculum
With an all-in-one homeschool solution, there’s a clear path in front of you— you’ll have all the resources and guidance you need to teach your kids and teach them well.
The cherry on top? You’ll also have a network of people to guide you along the way and provide you with any resources you may need.
An all-in-one program brings clarity, confidence, and freedom— you won’t have to spend time creating your daily, weekly, or yearly schedules for each subject and then stress if you fall behind in that work.
And even though the schedule is created for you, you don't have to strictly follow it. You can use it as a guide and feel the freedom to slow down, speed up, or alter it in a way that works best for your family.
Consider this All-In-On Homeschool Solution for Your Own Family
Just imagine… if you didn't have to put together your curriculum from various suppliers each year, what would you do with the time and money that you save? What adventures would you go on with your kids? What crazy things might you do when following your kids' interests?
Using an all-in-one curriculum as a homeschooler isn't cheating or being lazy. It's simply using a foundation, built by others, upon which you can build your own vibrant homeschool experience using a time tested teaching program. A program that offers a complete curriculum, custom-built for each student based on our comprehensive placement testing.
Even if people are turning their noses up at you for taking the “Easy way out,” what they think won’t matter because your kids will see success on the other side and you will not suffer from homeschool mom burnout!
So, take a deep breath. Trust your abilities as a parent and teacher.
Take the time to consider whether or not an all-in-one curriculum is right for your family.
It was right for ours and so many others we’ve helped along the way.
